They do hearken back to old school Splinter Cell in some sections though, as there are parts where you cannot be detected or its game over. Sam Fisher doesn’t care who he hurts at this point in his life, and he makes that fact obvious. Another cool aspect of the gameplay is the interrogation scenes, which are downright brutal. As long as you are not seen again, you will be able to disappear, and sneak back around then to take them out. Once you are seen, a silhouette of yourself is displayed, which is where the guards will be headed to take you down. The other main part of the gameplay is last known position. This is the style that they are going for, but at the same time, they could have implemented a better system that is not almost a win button. You can blast through rooms in seconds, and the guards do not even know what hit them. This system, I will admit, does make the game a lot easier. You do this by looking at the guards and pressing the right bumper to select them, and then pressing the Y button when they are all in view will take them down one by one. Then, you get access to being able to take down several guards in quick succession. First, you have to melee a guard to take him down. This is done by the new system: Mark and Execute. All of the hiding in the shadows, stalking your prey and hiding their bodies after you take them down is pretty much gone, now it is all about taking down your enemies in the fastest way possible. The gameplay of Splinter Cell has also taken a turn in terms of old school stealth games. There are other things that give the game legs though. The main story is not very long though, with most players taking about 5-6 hours to complete it. The story really hit home with me, and I wanted to see what would happen next. However, in Conviction every objective that you have to do is tied closely to the story, and you are not doing something just to do it. In other Splinter Cell games, most of the objectives really didn’t have much to do with the story. I really enjoyed the story, as it was the main driving force of the entire single player. There is a lot of backstabbing and espionage, and all the characters from the previous games appear in some part of this one. The story is very interesting, and reminds me of a really good season of the show 24. The story explosively takes off from there, and takes Sam on a wild journey across various regions around the globe. It seems as Sam gets closer and closer to finding the truth, he ends up uncovering a conspiracy in the company that made him the rogue agent he is now, Third Echelon. After a heartwarming flashback opening, we find Sam on the hunt for her killer, but there is more trouble ahead. The only thing that made Sam human is gone, and he is going to do anything necessary to find out what happened to her and who killed her. If you didn’t play the last game, Double Agent, then I must proclaim spoilers ahead: Sam Fisher’s daughter is dead. The story of Conviction starts off with tragedy. It takes the stealth genre to new heights, and is what I believe is the natural progression of a stealth game. Well after a few years of waiting, Ubisoft has released the next installment in the life of Sam Fisher, Splinter Cell Conviction and it is something that no one could have expected. Metal Gear, which is more of a story driven opus, and Splinter Cell, which is a “you get to be the badass spy you have always wanted to be”. There have been two franchises that have dominated this genre. What has gone from “if you get seen, you lose” has come around to “be stealthy, but then in some parts you can go nuts and take down everyone you see”. The stealth genre has transformed over the years. A little more Jack Bauer and a little less Solid Snake.

Therefore, even if the blood is removed, more must be done. If we simply drain the hematoma with a needle and syringe, bleeding may continue, and/or fluid will collect in the space unless the space is surgically obliterated. When the body has space in it, the body is going to fill that space with something. With the skin separated from the cartilage by the pressure of the bleeding, a space was created. The reason goes back to why the hematoma first developed. Pet owners frequently ask why this step alone is not sufficient. Now we drain the blood from the hematoma. Side view of Junior’s hematoma showing how thick the swelling is The amount of surgical time saved is dramatic, because the next step in closure of the hematoma is extremely tedious and time-consuming. My modification of traditional technique is to first “support” the area that has not yet begun to swell by using surgical staples to stapling the “inside” (least-haired) layer of skin to the cartilage underneath. I have tried it a few times in cases where budgetary limitations excluded surgery, but have had little success.Ī decade or so I published a variation of the traditional surgical repair that has given me impressive results while also reducing anesthesia and surgery time for most patients. A non-surgical treatment has been described that involves high doses of corticosteroids, some administered into the hematoma and some oral. There are a number of ways to repair auricular hematomas, mostly surgical. Sometimes dogs and cats in automobile accidents suffer blows to the head, leading to hematoma of the ear. The patient scratches at the ears, or shakes his head in an effort to relieve the itchiness and the resulting pounding breaks a blood vessel inside the pinna. Blood can be released when the ear is traumatized, such as an ear that’s itchy from infection, parasites or allergy. PRP is able to enhance regenerative process, ensuring the recovery of the tissue, the formation of the required aural cartilage and the regeneration of blood vessels.Junior’s auricular hematoma before surgeryĪuricular (or aural) hematoma occurs when blood collects between the skin layers and cartilage of the flap of the ear, known as the pinna. The procedure is the same as described above: draining of the blood, and injection of small PRP volume.Īutologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP)Đ.5 mL derived from whole blood, no steroids used in course of treatment. The aim of this study was to report the clinical efficacy of autologous PRP obtained with a double centrifugation in the treatment of canine aural hematoma and perianal fistula. Alternatively, a continuous intra-dermal suture line performed on the inner surface of the hematoma has been described as a common approach.Ī novel treatment with platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been described for intralesional injections. Multiple staggered, full thickness or partial thickness, interrupted mattress sutures are placed parallel to the long axis of the pinna over the entire area of the hematoma. S-shaped or linear incision are performed during the surgery: An incision is made through the concave surface of the pinna overlying the hematoma. Surgery is the most common treatment for hematoma both in dogs and cats All surgical approaches are performed under heavy sedation or general anesthetic. What could we learn about virtue, honor and leadership if we looked to the founder of the Round Table as an example of practical and chivalrous action in the modern world? The Business of the King Embodying ideals of bravery, courtesy and loyalty, Arthur is perhaps the most influential secular role model in Western philosophy. And, despite the erroneous perception that King Arthur stories are “kid’s stuff,” Arthurian literature is filled with rich metaphors regarding the nature of ethics, honor and humanity. That may sound silly, irreverent or even naïve, but the character of King Arthur (pictured above in the 14th century manuscript Romance of the Saint Graal) stands atop a body of literature that rivals nearly any other mythical or spiritual canon in human history. So, as we debate whether the Code of Chivalry has (or should have) any practical application in the modern world, there’s one question that seems to have been overlooked: What Would King Arthur Do? There are even doctrines (both humorous and semi-serious) that focus this inquiry on pop culture figures: “What would MacGyver do?” “ What would Buffy the Vampire Slayer do?” and “What would Brian Boitano do?” “What would Ghandi do?” gives us opportunity to consider the nature of nonviolent protest. “What would Buddha do?” provides a distinctly practical approach to Zen philosophy. “What would Thomas Jefferson do?” helps get to the bottom of political questions. There are plenty of other similar no-nonsense doctrines. Of course, the most famous of these approaches is, “What would Jesus do?” - a catchy slogan that helps cut through the mysticism and get right to the meat of New Testament teachings. This “hurry up and find enlightenment” mentality has given rise to a particular brand of teaching encapsulated in the catch phrase, “What would so-and-so do?” We don’t need to contemplate lengthy sermons or legends, we can simply imagine how someone wiser, more virtuous or more patient than ourselves would react. We need the bottom line … now, please! What, exactly, should we deduce from spiritual parables and philosophical writings as we try to go about our lives in a decent, ethical way? Here in the 21st century we rarely have time to contemplate myths and allegories in order to unlock their universal, transcendental meanings. From Aesop’s fables to the Bhagavad Gita, people throughout history have patiently sought for nuggets of enlightenment locked away within the allegorical teachings of sages, scholars and mystics. In ages past, wisdom and virtue were often gained by reading and contemplating mythical tales and metaphorical stories. After tricking one of the guards with the help of another prisoner, Twinsen manages to escape imprisonment and escapes the planet in one of the ships. Once Twinsen lands in Zeelich, the invitation proves to be a trap and he is arrested on the landing port. After graduating as a wizard, Twinsen is informed by his master of the possible plot of the Esmers and is sent to investigate their planet by accepting their invitation to all Wizards. The Esmers use their army to secretly capture Twinsun's children and openly invite the wizards to their planet (which is revealed later to be a trap to capture them). After the storm, alien creatures, who call themselves Esmers, land on the planet, under a false diplomatic guise and Twinsen begins training under the Wizard's School after hearing of missing children in the planet. He aids Bersimon, the island's weather wizard, resulting in the clouds disappearing. Twinsen seeks help from Ker'aooc, a healing wizard, who lives on Desert Island. The Dino-Fly is struck by lightning and crashes in Twinsen and Zoé's garden. Certain locations in the game are initially blocked from the player until they progress to a certain stage.Īfter Twinsen defeated FunFrock, Twinsun was peaceful, until a sudden storm covered Citadel Island. The game's gameplay is partially free-roaming, allowing the player to travel around the islands once they have been "unlocked" by completing certain objectives there are also many tasks which are optional or non-linear. It combines several action game/arcade sequences and some elements from the role-playing game genre. Like its predecessor, LBA 2 is real-time adventure. Essentially every character in the game is interactive and will respond differently when Twinsen speaks to them. The LBA world is considered extremely large and varied for games of its time. All text in the game is spoken by the characters. After completion of certain tasks the player is presented with a full motion video sequence. Unlike LBA, it is possible to save the game at any point. The interior game field is divided in scenes (a small block of the game that is active). All characters and vehicles are 3D polygon-based objects, allowing for full rotation and movement abilities. LBA 2 has two viewing modes - for outdoor scenes a 3D perspective view is used, and for indoor scenes it uses a 3D isometric perspective (the game field is rotated 45 degrees). Little Nightmares II is unhealthily fixated on trial and error in general. Every chapter is also now capped off with an extended chase sequence, and these are exciting in theory but rely far too heavily on trial and error. Later you’re given a flashlight, which can be used to stun certain enemies, but controlling it with the right analog stick as you’re moving with the left is frustratingly imprecise. It almost feels like a cruel parody of what video game combat should be. Mono doesn’t carry a weapon, you have to find something like a pipe or axe lying around, position yourself just right to pick it up, then sloooowly drag it across the floor and watch an equally-sluggish canned attack animation as you hope against hope that you actually connect with an enemy. The game now features combat, which kind of feels against the ethos of the original Little Nightmares, and is generally clunky as hell. Unfortunately, almost everything else added to Little Nightmares II is a flop. It’s basically a small-scale version of the Joel and Ellie relationship from The Last of Us and works well enough. Little Nightmares II may appear to be a co-op game at first, but Six is actually AI-controlled and only helps out during certain key moments. Little Nightmares II is still a scary-good time when it sticks to these fundamentals, but developer Tarsier Studios muddles things with an array of new mechanics. Basic platforming, puzzle-solving, and stealth sections where you had to avoid the game’s weird Muppet-ey abominations were the order of the day. Six could jump, duck, illuminate the environment with a lighter, grab stuff, and…that was about it. Speaking of less is more, the original Little Nightmares was about as simple as it gets. Sometimes less is more when it comes to horror, and this game’s more detailed world doesn’t provide as many shadowy blanks for your mind to fill with terrors.Įlden Ring Has Secretly Made Some of its Bosses Less Challenging And yet, despite many improvements, I didn’t feel like Little Nightmares II delivered as much atmosphere as the first game. From the rubber-necked schoolteacher to the wobbling ceiling-clinging grub-man, to a genuinely-terrifying late game baddie I won’t spoil, enemy designs are as unique and off-putting as ever. While the game is still largely played on a 2D plane, levels feel larger and more intricate, with some impressive lighting and weather effects. Little Nightmares II is a major visual leap forward for the series, at least on a technical level. This game’s story got me to drop an audible “Oh, damn” or two. Little Nightmares II once again takes a wordless, ambiguous approach to storytelling, although this time around we actually get some rather surprising twists and turns toward the end. Mono is inexorably drawn to a giant transmission tower that might just be the source of the darkness afflicting the world, while Six follows along with him for self-preservation, and perhaps other reasons that aren’t quite as clear. Turns out all the horrors Six faced in The Maw were just the beginning – the entire world is just as messed up. Little Nightmares II casts players as a new character named Mono, although he quickly stumbles upon and rescues Six. Six managed to escape her fate, but it was hinted along the way that she had a rather dark side of her own. One Piece Odyssey Summer Game Fest Trailer Provides New Quick Look At The Straw Hat Pirates and Moreįor those just joining us, the first Little Nightmares starred Six, a yellow-raincoat-wearing little girl lost within The Maw, a surreal floating underworld filled with grotesque cannibalistic creatures. Little Nightmares II is bigger, more complex, and varied than its predecessor, but has this series lost some of its dark charm in the process of growing up? Hopefully you’re rested up because it’s time to dive deep into this new Nightmare… And yet, Little Nightmares II scuttles our way later this week. That said, despite the warm response and solid sales, few expected Little Nightmares to spawn a franchise. Strange, mysterious, and often terrifying for reasons that don’t make a lot of sense. In addition to its unique art style and accessible mechanics, the game did a fantastic job of capturing what nightmares, real nightmares, actually feel like. The original Little Nightmares left a surprisingly large and lasting impression on horror fans. I have to try eyeconnect.maybe the new firmaware has some kind of buffer.Ĭannot understand the problem of file format.2. TODAY i update the samsung firmware to the new 11/2009.same problem with internal dlna and medialink:unknown file format. Infact: streaming something from the imac to the tv using the ps3 as player and medialink as server program sometimes on the top appear "connection erron" but ps3 doesn't stop.this is the reasun why i think ps3 have somekind of buffer. I have to understando what happen do eyeconnect.i think that samsung dlna have no buffer file or something like that, so, if connection has an error, the dlna disconnect the server. Playback: the dlna sees everything but report unknown file format it stops after few minutes, not the same stops with the error (in italian ) " scoll media player .etc.".in english is : media player disconnected (than the network address) BUT using the dlna application of samsung the tv reports unknown file format.Įyeconnet:samsung dlna sees the imac with all folders, IT PLAYS!!!!!!it woks!!!! it's alive!! BUT.BUT. Medialink by nulliver: perfect connect to my ps3, i can stream everything and play using ps3 showing on tv. Imac is connected wired to led550 series7. Love this TV and my MAC accessories AA HAA good luck all. I used Roxio Crunch to convert my Vids and they ALL WORK!! You can download, or buy really cheap video conversion software to convert your videos to MP4 to stream to your TV. Also it only regonized MP3 format for audio and MEG-4 for Video, photos had no problems. You just have to make sure you have your wireless netwrok set up properly with your MAC, wireless router, and your AirportExpress. I was amazed at how fast I got this to work after reading all the trouble many here on this forum, and elsewhere, were having. I can play all MP3 Audio, MPEG4 Video, and view all my photos from IPHOTO. But seems I found a way.Ĭonnected my Samsung TV to my Airport Express via Ethernet.Īnd through Eyeconnect. i must say i was getting nervous after I ordered my series 6 Samsung and read all the difficulties connecting to play media from the comp. I does not show anything in any of the menu selections, the only one working is Seach, which is not so fun. Yes they work wireless, except for the You Tube one. Can only play chunks of music that one selects, it is just so simple file oriented! That might be ok for sporadic showing of a family picture or 10, but not a whole show! After this exercise I just love my ATV. So what can it be used for? Sorry but it cannot replace the functionality with regards to the ATV. On wireless I get errors with "unsupported file format". Rivet gives errors with "unsupported file format" when trying to play/show, but album art and picture preview works ok.ĮyeConnect on wire works ok. So save yourself the wireless dongle and go wired. Tried two different WLAN setups (subnets) and could not get a reliable linking. You might be lucky and get it working, I didn't. I also tried installing the Share Manager under Virtual Box but never got any connection with the TV. On my Mac Mini 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo running 10.5.7, I tried Rivet (2.2) and EyeConnect (1.6) in different setups - wired and wireless - yes I bought the wireless dongle also. that might have been a mistake thinking that I could skip the AppleTV box I have sitting next to the TV.įirst off all there is a latest version avail from Samsung of their PC Share Manager - Ver 2.1 is out - if you can get it to work on a PC. So I bought my 37B658 LCD with all the whistles and bells also. I want to figure out how to best communicate what’s going through my mind. I can’t take a breath anymore without catching a whiff of cigarette smoke and it just makes me feel more sick. Or the works of Jung and Wittgenstein and Kant and Chomsky and whoever many other people regard as thoughtful in the least bit. If I keep going for long enough maybe the works of Shakespeare will eventually start pouring from my fingertips. Instead, it made me more anxious and now I’m just typing as much as I can in hopes that I can make this pen run dry but I’m concerned that my mind is a bottomless ink well. Did I really need that cigarette? Probably not, but I convinced myself that it was the shakeup that I needed in order to get a worthwhile brainstorm session going. As though my daily reactions to just about everything aren’t enough, I have to do something that physically requires my body to react. I don’t think I like smoking but I do it anyway because it’s something that reminds me that I’m alive. Because right now I can’t handle much of anything. Maybe this small exercise will help you come to terms with humanity a little bit more than I currently am able to handle. Interact with those that don’t come to you. I need to bear this in mind throughout my day more. The problem is that the people who have the most to say actually end up saying nothing at all. At the same time, I won’t come across as anything. But this way I may not come across as sounding like an ignorant asshole. So instead of even making an effort I do nothing, suffering in silence. So out of fear of not being good enough or just flat out getting too frustrated to do it, I just end up doing nothing at all. I don’t know how to begin to remotely catalogue this struggle. So I’m stuck trying to come to terms with the limitations i place on myself. I understand that this is hypocritical coming from me. He made a living writing, and if he felt like he couldn’t even connect with people despite his speech being shared by millions and selling millions more of his books… what kind of validation did he need? Was it with his own self? Was he just self destructive and not appreciative of his own work for being the best it could be and that that was good enough? Was that what drove him over the edge? That so many people connected with it and that they didn’t truly understand what he wanted them to understand? I mean, this is the same guy who delivered this great commencement speech that basically talked about our shared humanity and so many people connected with it, myself included, and yet it wasn’t enough for him. What the hell kind of a precedent does that set? Talk about a tough act. As David Foster Wallace puts it, it’s not impossible and that’s all that matters. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt that they think the same things that I do. It’s the same circular argument that I have with myself just about every day. I want to be able to show people what I’m thinking, but if everything comes up short in terms of photography being concerned, how the hell am i supposed to do so? If photography is my “expertise” and I can’t think of anything how am I supposed to successfully communicate with ANYONE. But isn’t that in and of itself ignorance? It’s not so much a fear, it’s just an understanding. And the fear at the heart of it all is that it’s just ignorance. I can’t come up with an idea, a way, or even a formula, to really materialize what I’m going through in my head right now. I know there are people that can do so through art or through song, okay, just art period whatever, but you know what I mean. I know I don’t know enough to do so though. I want to be able to create something that shows people what I’m thinking. It’s that I’m afraid that I just flat out can’t communicate it. NO, it’s not that I’m afraid of diminishing it. I’m afraid of diminishing what I’m thinking. I’m having a bit of an existential crisis right now, but it’s a lot different from what I normally go though. I continue to find this recurring theme throughout all of my journal entries. Meanwhile, if you have any suggestions or feedback please drop in your message on our Facebook page.
